A Policy Drive Approach means two things.
1) The logic within the system will be based on configurable rules which are aware of Plant, Equipment Type and type of document.
2) The logic in the system is also based on Roles ( e.g. MM8 Asset Engineer ) rather than names ( Joe Bloggs ).
By way of example if a mechanical item of equipment fails then the failure investigation will be assigned to "MM8 Asset Engineer ( Joe Bloggs )". Should Joe Bloggs is replaced by Jenny Smith then one central change in the system will mean that all of the documents and actions which were attributed to Joe Bloggs will automatically be attributed to Jenny Smith.
