Introduction

The purpose of this FoCul project is to replace the Cassel Asset Maintenance Database with one which is fit for purpose into the future.

The existing CAM database was started in 1997 and has been developed incrementally by the Asset Engineers from that time.

Although it still gives tremendous business value it not reliable enough or maintainable going forward. Furthermore the new system will improve access to information and processes using the latest functionality available in Lotus Notes.

The Project  Sponsor is GY. The IT work is being carried out by FoCul Ltd ( Sean Cull and Andrew Champion ) in conjunction with the Lucite Business Applications Group.

Once the system has been deployed support will be provided by Janet Talbot of the Business Aplications Group.

It is still early days in the project but please do not hesitate to raise any queries or questions that you might have : List of people

The Lucite Stakeholders are listed Here

Project Objectives

The following objectives have been set out for the project :

  1. Replace the existing system with one which is robust
  2. Replace the existing system with one which is maintainable
  3. Deliver the replacement system such that the cost of maintenance is reduced by allowing more to be done in-house by Lucite
  4. Deliver a replacement system which is much easier to use for both the Asset Management team and the Operations teams
  5. Deliver a system that supports the Cassel Engineering strategy and in particular the :
    1. Asset Care ALP Processes
    2. Maintenance Lifecycle
    3. Maintenance Policies
    4. Maintainability Reviews
    5. Equipment Failure Metrics

Key Usability Themes

  • Information from all functions ( Mech., IE etc.. ) will be organised in a consistent manner
  • It will be easy to see what documents have changed
  • It will be easy for a user to see where their input is required
  • Where a document has a status is will be easy to see what that status is
  • Where there is workflow it will be easy to see what that workflow is
  • The process teams will initially be presented with a subset of documents which are most pertinent to them

Key Improvement Themes

The project has a number of key improvement themes which will significantly enhance the usefulness of the system. These are :

  • A consistent data hierarchy across all equipment types
  • A consistent approach to maintenance policies, failure investigation and information recording across disciplines
  • A Policy driven approach to workflow and ownership of document
  • Configurable Workflow so that the system ower can easily create new forms and workflows.
  • New Note to File functionality to support the capture of information
  • Improved E and I Processes
